Welcome To OAA

Welcome to the start of our journey together. Get to know our community, understand our mission to combat loneliness and see how we're committed to providing safe, supportive, and quality connection. We invite you to join us as we grow and succeed together because your well-being is at the heart of our story. We're truly glad you're here.

Our purpose is simple: to improve the lives and mental well-being of people in the North East by creating real lasting human connection. Safe, Inclusive Drop-in Sessions: Regular, accessible locations where people can meet, socialise, and feel connected.

Our Story

Out and About North East was founded by Becks and Nat.  The journey began from a deeply personal place, as both Becks and Natalie have first-hand experience navigating significant challenges with mental well-being and the intense isolation that often comes with it.

We understand that feeling isolated, especially when managing mental health issues or dealing with the world as a neurodivergent or disabled person, can be overwhelming. We started OAA to create the space we desperately needed—a non-judgmental, safe haven where everyone is genuinely welcome.

Our Mission: Connection and Well-being

Combatting Loneliness: Creating a supportive, inclusive, and non-judgmental community environment.

Improving Mental Well-being: Helping individuals, particularly those facing mental health challenges, isolation, disabilities, or neurodivergence, to build confidence and reduce anxiety.

Supportive community

Supportive Community: A vibrant, welcoming environment where you can be yourself, free from the pressure of masking or fitting in.

"It wasn't just a group; it was a home built on shared struggle, where every cracked wall and shaky foundation was understood. We came for support, but we stayed because we found something deeper: a chosen family that saw our shadows and loved us in the light."
